Composites provide a possible solution to the ever increasing demands for new materials. Composites can be used not only as a construction material in the field of lightweight engineering for aerospace, automotive and renewable energy applications, but also for innovative biomaterial applications in the field of medical technology. For example, carbon fibers, carbon nanotubes and graphene composites have interesting properties and potential applications. Further work in this area includes the development of new additive manufacturing processes and the simulation of the material behaviour.
